I found an almost full 4' x 8' sheet of 26 g galv sheet metal that we can cut into deflector plates. It should work fine for the smaller stuff (Class 1) but we might want a heaver (stiffer) gauge metal for the big motors.
Do we have a count of how many we need and what sizes?
Let me know and I will start cutting this up as I find time.
Steve
We have deflectors in the trailer for many of the pads (or at least we used to). One of our members (actually several) own substantial machine shops and could fab. new deflectors from scrap material. The shop I worked at last summer has literally tons of scrap stainless steel in the 10-16 gauge range and up into even thicker 1/4" plate. I'm going to stop by there this week and I'll speak to him about it. 26 gauge would likely burn right through on an M motor, but I guarantee you a piece of 10 ga stainless will last us 20 years.
How about a deflector plate mounted on the rod or rail, in the shape of a yield sign. Drill a hole in it and mount it on the rod or rail. Have the metal bent down at a 45 degree angle so the blast is deflected horizontally. Those are easy to fabricate. Another thought is to take half a sheet of plywood, paint it with a thick coating of Rhino liner and place them under the tri-pods. Easy to fabricate, in-expensive to fabricate, and easy to stack and store in the trailer. We could try to make a few by the time we get back to the north site and see how they hold up, and/or both methods to see how they work.

I was told at the meeting we did need deflectors especially on the rods. 26g would be fine for those. I work in metal as well and this is scrap .. free .. just offering ...
