16' is the longest - two 8' sections joined by plates.

What if I thought I needed 20'? Let's say so the rocket is doing at least 88 fps by the time it leaves the rail.

I've rarely seen a 20' rail. How fast is it going after 15'? With a 5:1 ratio you should be good in calm conditions on even 12'.

Maybe 75 fps. I have to look again and I am not at the computer with the data on it.

If your fins are not effective by 88fps (60 mph), then they might be too small. 44fps is the generally accepted minimum speed to leave the rail at, and if a 16' rail gives you 88fps, you should be more than adequate.

Thanks. Using RockSim, it did not appear the bird would reach 88fps until about 20'. I had heard that it was good to be at least 88fps before leaving the rail. With motor burn being 12.8 seconds, the last thing I want is any instability.

Need more motor, then!!!
