Folks,
Some of you know me, I've been to a couple of launches and gave my first HP rocket it's inagural flight last November. Now I'm ready to try for my L1 cert. I just signed up with NAR; what else do I need to do before the April launch? Is there a form to fill out, and will the appropriate folks be present to sign it for me?
Thanks in advance,
Joe, aka Greg
I'll bring a membership form to the April launch. You can fill it out on-site.
Ken.
I'll be at the April launch and would be happy to help/witness/whatever you need. Just let me know.
Thanks, guys, if somebody could bring the membership form on the 14th that'd be great. I'm curious, the NAR form says something about expiring in a year - does the certification only last that long? That seems kind of lame. Also, what do I get for being certified - does NAR send me a card or something to prove it at launches?

Thats correct. You will get a NAR card that will show your membership to NAR with the Cert Level 1 on it. I will be at MHM for sure. Not sure about the next launch yet. But if I am able to be there I will be glad to sign off and witness.
Something maybe not mentioned yet either. For a L1 cert for NAR it takes either 2 witnesses that are of L1 status to witness and sign off, OR it takes 1 L2 or higher (level 3) flyer to witness and sign off and the must be a member of NAR in good standing as well.
I'm sure plenty of people will chime in to help. If Im there I will be glad to sign off. ( I am L3 so you wouldn't need another assuming I make it)
Just a quick comment on the "expiring in a year" comment...
No, that's not the case. If you keep your NAR membership current, you will keep your level standing.
The year expiration states that if you let your membership lapse for more than a year, your cert vanishes. Other than that, it is permanent.
Sorry if my post was "un-finished or unclear" I missed the year part in his post. I was primarily speaking on what they will send him. But as others have stated paying your dues and keeping your membership in good standing will keep your cert level active.
