Hey guys,
New toys today, thanks to JW, 3Dogs. Thought I'd share some photos and try to keep track of my build process.
Gizmo:
5" diameter
32 1/2" tall
Just after clean up,
The shot of me mocking her.
54 MM, 6xl hiding in there.
Hey,
I'm got my mount for the DC-30 finished. There is a tapped hole that uses the orginal mounting screw for the tracker, that will hold it in, then a plate gets bolted on top of that. Gizmo nose cone, looking inside.
Still need more epoxy around the 54mm coupler, and to finish inside of the cone alittle.
Hey guys,
After i have the nose cone interior about finished, I realized i never put all the specs. into Open Rocket. So... after getting all the info into the computer, I'm only getting about .47 calibers of stability, if I had 2 Lbs in the nose can get her up to 1.47. Although it seems like I remember reading something about short fat rockets only needing around .5 calibers of stability, Is this correct? Or just a figment of a dream i had, information always goes in, just not sure I pull it out correctly.
Thanks!
Personally, I don't see much point in trying to make a stability rule of thumb in terms of calibers. It's too conservative for fat rockets and too aggressive for long, skinny rockets. If your stability margin is 10% of the rocket length, you'll be fine.
Copy that, thanks for the tip Adrian.
