I'm starting to design my first 2 stage rocket - 83mm Hybrid to 83mm Hybrid. I'm going to use 98mm tubing for the airframe and hope to just use 48" lengths. I was seeking opinions on my staging/coupler connection. Right now it is simply a machined piece of aluminum that acts as a coupler/retainer for the motor.

Ed, it looks right you have about 1-1/2 diameters of insertion. What's your strategy on how to light the sustainer? I know nothing about hybrids so maybe I'm an idiot for asking.
Here's the drawing of my 2 stage "the Twins".

The motor retainer was small enough to fit through a standard coupler which was attached to the booster. You only have 7.5mm difference between the motor and airframe diameters so that is a tight setup.
