I am looking at the vinyl graphics that came with My
Thor-X. All seems pretty easy.
The issue I think I am going to have is. (This is the first
time applying vinyl) Two parts, one gold and one black. They
go all the way around the 4" tube and are 8" tall.
How do I apply and keep it even and level all around?
Any pointers.
Right now I could do it with rattle can and it look just as
good with out a headache.
Thanks Mike
When I did the vinyl wrap around mine (4"), it was a bear. Make sure the section of tube is very smooth and regular. Any little waves or even smooth bumps will throw a stretch into the vinyl and give you a wrinkle. I've heard of others spritzing the surface with Windex to allow the vinyl to slide around, then squeegying (sp?) it down.
Put a wrap of tape around to give you a line to follow. That way you won't miss when you come around.
Good luck!
Ken
Thanks.
On the gold I decided to paint.
argh.
Now. The only minor complaint about vinyl. But it seems to be
right.
Capital T - Capital H - Capital O - Capital R - dash - Small x
Does not look right.
But all the THOR x rockets I have seen on the web has a small
x. If I had painted them, it would have had a Capital X and and
and I got them just a little off. That would not have happened if I
had painted them. The wife says I am rediculous. It can hardly
be seen.
To be honest. If I had looked close and noticed the small x
I would not have used them. I did not even see it untill I
had one side on.
It will fly just as well at OKTOBERFESt. 😆
I think the small x is used to denote "rookie" status on racing machines and such. Mike, you are no rookie. And your wife just doesn't understand all of the compexities involved. (Neither does mine).
The "Rocketry Widows" meet the same days we're out flying - they just aren't quite as well organized.
