I'm starting to play with the idea of building a 2x or 2.5x upscale of a Big Daddy for Octoberfest. After I spent 10 minutes talking with Art yesterday the project sort of expand to having airstarts, DD recovery, etc...
I've found several NC's that are close to right but I'm wondering how hard is it to make a NC? Because the project has expanded in scope is making your own NC any cheaper? Last how close do you think a V2 NC look?
Ron Dreasher
Ron, I used a PNC60V2 for a half scale 'E-vil Daddy' (can take an E9) and it looks right on the money compared to my original. I think a 6" or 7.5" V2 cone would be pretty darn close. I'm thinking of a 4"+ Baby Bertha to go after your Quark with (and get my L2), and perhaps your Bigger Daddy. BTW, what are your Quark's dimensions?
Mark
I found out that GLR 7.5" NC is a really close match. So Tim is graciously helping me part with my money. 😆
Mark,
The Quark is a 4" upscale, it's about 44" tall and has a 19" fin span diameter. Right now Joe from Hobbytown in Longmont has it. The longest case that can fit is a AT 480 case.
The trick with a 4" Baby Bertha as a L2 rocket will be making sure you can fit a long enough motor casing to take at least a J motor and a parachute.
Ron
Well, you could use a stubby 54 rather than a long 38 - that would probably make it a lot easier...
