All the reason why I have Air brushes, Paint guns, and special clothing and resparators. Like Warren I have spent a fair amount of money on my equipment. I have 1 paint gun i own that cost me about 750.00 alone (I have a total of about 6 guns- Touch up, primer, Clear and paint in general.) Also the main reason why I like having a Professional Paint booth at my disposal with Ventilation a clean room and even a bake oven inside the Booth itself. One of the main reasons I took many classes as well as got hands on experince painting cars and about anything...I do enjoy it and the results.
Conway, you're killing me with your access to a paint booth. That way you don't get bugs committing bugacide into your paintjob. 🙂 Here's an issue along the lines of this post, has anyone ever had to remove the wax they've applied in order to make modifications and then repaint? I've never had to do this before. I don't know the chemical composition of my wax; it doesn't say. A long, long time ago when I was into altitude, I'd always paint, sand, paint, sand, etc. until it was adequate for waxing. But this bird, since I made the mistake of trying to get it ready for the June launch (haste does make waste), has already been waxed. I wet-sanded today to smooth out the gray auto putty I had to apply to get rid of a seam and remove the wax, and I threw away the sample I keep of what I've done to a rocket paint-and-wax-wise--popsicle sticks work nicely. While I can just leave it as is, it's a literal single shot, is there any way to repaint after waxing, besides literally sanding down to the primer?
Yes Go to a automotive paint supply store like the one I work at and tell them you need to buy some Autobody prepclean that is Grease and wax remover solvent/cleaner (some are water based but i dont belive they work as well.) Most are a spray on and wipe up type formula. really easy to use its what we use to wipe down a vehicle before it gets paint. removes contaminates. Then I recomend hitting it with a Tac rag.
