I have a bad habit of having too much charge.
I am putting togeather my Big Nuke 5.54" To Launch in
July with a I211. I know it will not go out of site but
it should be a slow and low flight.
The well on a 38/480 RMS holds 1.5 grams.
A couple places I have read say to use 1 gram per 6"
of length. My Lord that seems like a lot.
Questions.
Is that correct?
I am going to test but I do not want to damage it.
If it is correct.....What is the best way to increase the well size?
I will not be using electronics.
I have a electronics. Is this a time it would be a must?
Set for apogee.

Use this as a STARTING point. Always ground test. I am frequently surprised at how little or how much bp it may take for a project. I have several projects that use 0.25g (so little I had to make a measuring cup incremented in 1/10th of a gram) and some that use 12g. There is no substitute for ground testing.
One word about ground testing -- on smaller charges, the match itself can exert a fair amount of energy. ALWAYS use the same match in ground testing that you will in flight so your results are consistent.
Suggest YES on the electronics.
