My next larger rocket will probably be a 3 engine. Not sure what kit
yet. 38/29 or 54/38
On the main engine I will leave out the ejection charge
and let the air started engines deploy the drogue.
Question: Do you replace it with anything?
I have read about plugs and the such. But not sure.
Thanks Mike
I really wouldn't try that - it's a recipe for disaster if the airstarts don't fire.
Just use a full electronic deploy setup if you want to do this. It's more reliable, and not that difficult. As for replacing the standard charge? You can fill the well with grease or dog barf, or just leave it. It doesn't matter that much. I usually fill the well with grease.
My main will come out electronicly at around 1000'.
If I do not put powder in the well of the engine.....The delay grain is not strong enough to move the airframe?
I hope I am understanding.
I have a RRC2....I can deploy the drogue at apogee, and the main
at a choice. (1000')
?? 🙄
If you do not put any black powder in the well, the delay charge is weak enough to not significantly change the pressure in the airframe.
Just use the RRC2 for all deployment - it is a great altimeter, and will be far more accurate about popping the drogue at apogee than any motor delay.
I understand
