ok, going to renane my login here to "noob". Many hurdles still to jump through to get this Hyperloc 1600 ready to fly, really feeling out of my league on this one. Certification at level 1 was so much easier. Now we got bigger rocket, lots of wires and little experience.
Things I have to overcome.
1) Electronics. I am really going to need some help on flight day making sure I am programming this altimeter correctly and that I have everything wired correctly. Big question, should I buy a second altimeter? Does the rocket justify it? I have see the dual altimeters in some of the impressive birds you guys have put up, do I need it? I have the RRC2 Mini already installed, should I buy a second or a different type? Recommendations?
2) Ejection. Building my own ejection charges will be "fun". I simple design from one of your posts and am pretty sure how to assemble them. I got some extra igniters from Tim last launch that I can test with. Where the heck do I get the powder? I live in Longmont, am willing to drive to Denver if needed. Suggestions?
... I am sure way more to come as I try to get this thing ready to fly in the next 3 weeks.
There will be plenty of people to help you. I have programmed the RRC2 mini but I still use a cheat sheet. It is not necessary for dual electronics. I would recommend you invest you money on motors and get experience doing some flying. Then you'll know when that project needs another altimeter.
I assume when you say you have "igniters" you mean electric matches. I have black powder you're welcome to and usually Tim has some for sale on the field. Again you'll find plenty of help making your charges. There are many different methods and styles to choose from.

If you need some powder, I have powder you can use for testing. Several others have powder in Longmont too. Call Tim and see if he can get you a can at Octoberfest. Otherwise you will have to buy 5lbs online like I did. Lifetime supply 😕

Awesome. Thanks for the offer of help guys. OK, was worried about not having the dual alt's but I will leave it out for now. What's Tim's log name here? I will send him a note about the powder and the engines I will need. Fixing up my Expediter that was damaged at MileHigh Mayhem and want to make sure my name is on a couple of 'I''s. I get paid on the Friday of the event, there is a God...
Maybe I will just wire up the electronics as best I can, premake the ejection charges then have you guys help me build/test a few at the event. This will then allow me to divert my attention to further Glue, more glue, more glue, painting, sanding, probably more glue and studying for the test.
Thanks for the support guys.

Just fly it naked. Worry more about getting the mechanics of the thing worked out before the launch. You can still get your L2 cert in primer.
You can paint it, if it survives! 😉
I Lawn Darted my first L2 try! It was in primer. Wouldnt of flown any better with paint. 😆
Trying to work out the mechanics of the ejections at the last minute dont ya know!
And by the way, thats Tims name "Lawn Dart Man"
