Hello
I am building my Level 3 ( Modified Magnum 3E ) rocket, and I would like some help in selecting the correct Rail buttons ( Diameter and depth ) that the launch rails will support.
I did not know if the NCR rails are the 1.5 inch 8020 material, or some other type.
I plan on using 2 locations along the Airframe/Bodytube, but just need some assistance with the size to use. The completed launch ready rocket will weigh in at about 28 pounds.
Thanks 🙂
We have rails for both standard and extreme size (1010 and 1515). I use (and love) the large rail buttons from railbuttons.com for my deuce - they work just fine on NCR's large rails.
I agree with Chris here and they are what I used for my L3 flight last October. The bigger ones also use 1/4 20 screws and are even interchangeable with the even larger yet uni-strut buttons (also available to be able to fly on at NCR site) But go to the railbuttons.com and get the larger ones that use the 1/4 -20 screws.
One note. I would recommend getting a different screw for them. one that the screw head will be counter sunk into the top of the Rail button as sometimes the normal screw can cause contact to the rail and keep it from sliding on like it should.
I have a drawing of all the rails that NCR uses and the dimentions of each. I do not know how to post drawings to the wepbage so send me your e-mail and I will send anyone that wants a copy.
Dale.
Give me a couple days and I'll get a page up with the rail dimensions and some other related technical details.
