Description: We will need a minimum of 10 NAR contest fliers to make this a Regional Contest. Find your copy of the United States Model Rocket Sporting Code (Pink Book) or go to the NAR website at http://www.nar.org/pinkbook/ for rules and specifics on the following events:
B Parachute Duration - The purpose of this event is to achieve the longest flight duration time utilizing parachute recovery.
B Boost Glider Duration (R/C allowed) - The purpose of this competition is to achieve the longest glider flight duration time.
C Streamer Duration - The purpose of this event is to achieve the longest flight duration time utilizing streamer recovery.
C Egg Loft Duration - The purpose of this event is to achieve the longest flight duration and recover the payload egg without damage.
D Dual Egg Loft Duration - The purpose of this event is to achieve the longest flight duration and recover the payload eggs without damage.
The entry fee for the Pawnee Pioneer Open will be $5.00 and this will allow you to compete in all of the competitions listed. You must have a NAR membership to compete. (If you'd like, we can get you signed up on the field!) In the event of iffy weather a decision will be made no later than 11:00 AM as to what will be the contest's next step.
Results have been calculated for the 2nd Annual Pawnee Pioneer Open. Congratulations go out to all the contest flyers, volunteer timers and range assistants for their help in making this another successful, safe and fun NCR sponsored NAR sanctioned event. Registered competitors from CRASH and NCR flew in five different duration events – B Boost Glider, B Parachute, C Streamer, C Single Eggloft and D Dual Eggloft. Five of the fifteen First Place trophies went home to NCR members Ryan Plattner ( A Div. C Streamer), Ron Dreasher (C Div. B Parachute) and Mike Konshak (C Div. C Streamer, C Single Eggloft and D Dual Eggloft). The only B Division competitor, Emmett Nielsen, won four of the five events but unfortunately did not have a qualifying flight in the D Dual Eggloft. And Reiley Edmands took home three A Division awards – B Parachute, B Boost Glider and C Single Eggloft. Teams “Unintentional Artillery” and “Violent Deconstruction” won the A Division and B Division D Dual Eggloft events.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
My thanks to Joe for putting on a great event. Here's the really cool trophies he came up (at least from my loot). They are proudly displayed in my office. The NCR participant medalions were also a very nice treat to get.
Mike, you finally got your trophies! Way to go! Next year, you and me... on the battle, uh, flight field. 😉

I'm sure if you were there, these would have gone to you. We were all dissapointed that you couldn't make it. FYI here's the actual point breakdown that appeared in a status report on the CRASH emails from Russ Anthony. Please note that although I am also a member of C.R.A.S.H. my allegiance is with NCR and my point standings on the NAR page should reflect that as well.

Hi everyone,
Here are the results for the Pawnee Pioneer Open (A regional event for the 1st time.)
Daniel and Ryan Anthony-Ceres formed a team T-668 called Unintentional Artillery, while Russ Anthony and Todd Edmands competed against them as T-803 called Violent Deconstruction. As usual, youth won out over experience. T-668 racked up 1992 points total for the overall highest amount of points in the contest.
Reiley Edmands won A division with 1122 points, but DQ'd the big D Dual Eggloft event. Emmett Nielsen competed against A division without any other B competitors and came away with 1362 points. Our own Mike Konshak ruled C division with 1956 points but chose to fly for NCR. (Probably a good thing, otherwise CRASH would have taken almost all the trophies.)
For those of you that missed it, it was awesome sunny weather in the 70's with very little wind. At times we had single deployment H and I rockets floating down within the launch areas.
Here are the individual flights. For this contest, only one flight per event was allowed since it was a one day regional. DED - D Dual Eggloft Duration, C ELD - C Eggloft Duration, B PD - B parachute Duration, C SD - C streamer Duration, B BG - B Boost Glider duration (All times listed in seconds)
2 flights: Mike Konshak's and Rick McDonald's B PD were qualified flight points only since they couldn't return the rockets. Both flights were over 6 minutes, with Mike's over 14 minutes. [ 👿 Damn them thermals! I walked two miles after it and drove another 10 looking for it - it was still rising]
All times are listed in seconds.
NF means they didn't fly the event.
Qual means flight points (24) only for a qualified flight but no return.

I will not be at the next CRASH launch, due to competing in WSSR (Alamogordo), [ 8) Mike and Becky will be there too!] but Todd Edmands has trophies for the CRASH winners. A big thanks to NCR and especially Joe Hinton for putting on a small, but great contest. Joe Hinton did everything from buying eggs, having trophies on hand, launching rockets, and grilling free lunch for anyone there! The guy is amazing. We are planning on another contest next year, and I'd love to see more of you and more NCR participation.

Don't be so sure about that... you give me something to shoot for now. You set the bar, and we'll both--and others--go for it next year. I'm glad to see that Ryan Plattner got a trophy, too. Very cool!
Okay so start thinking about the appropriate events for next year. Until NAR accepts altimeters for altitude shots, we'll stick to duration events. WF needs to add up to, not over, 80 for a regional. Toss out some ideas and let's get it planned early on. Thanks.
Joe, definitely do at least one egg duration and a BG event. Why? They're fun, plus I want to rebuild my NARAM-11 winning glider. See if I still have what it takes... from 39 years ago, next year it'll be 40. 😯 Already have most of the parts. I'll check the book of pinkness and think about it.
8) I like the giant scale! I won this class 2 weeks ago in Utah! 8)

Was that a NAR event? I'd like to see your entry. I built a sport scale for DARS 308 in texas, but I am terrible at detailing.
My preference is to have events that gets the most folks flying.
