I just Registered for NARAM-50 which will be in Manassas, Va July 26-Aug 1. This will be a special event for me since my last NARAMs were 2 and 3.

Is anyone else thinking about or planning on going?
Russ Anthony of C.R.A.S.H. will be attending with his boy Ryan. Evidently they are #1 in points in the A and C division. Although I joined both CRASH and later NCR, I put down NCR as my section , since I've been mostly hanging with you guys.
I will be heading out that way with Waverly sometime after the 21st of July for a family reunion of sorts on the Delaware shore. Seems do-able but haven't gotten that far in the planning. Supposed to be a nice place to fly but I haven't found anything anywhere that beats our North site, so far.
They'll allow up to J on sport flying days but the waiver is only up to 5000 feet
Just a quick update, now that I am back from Virginia...
First of all congratulations on all the high altitude flying that was done while I was gone competing at the NAR national.
I won two medals (3rd in set duration and 4th in R&D) which garnered enough points to put me in 5th overall in the national championship standings for the year. NCR finished 19 out of
If I could have found my Payload altitude I would have had a 2nd in that class, but the foliage ate it (gosh, they have nasty ticks out there!).
All-in-all, I was pleased with the outcome, making a comeback after a 48 years sabbatical from the NAR. I met a great bunch of people and learned a lot, and I really mean A LOT!
For those of you with kids, the A and B classes were dominated by very capable young ladies, and there was very few B contenders, so I would encourage you all to consider doing more contesting this upcoming contest year, as your kids could all bring home a lot of loot.
FYI, NARAM 51 will be in Pennsylvania next year.
CONGRATS!
Are you suggesting that older rocketeers can still learn new tricks? Nicely done Mike!!!! Greater details of the experience are expected soon. Where and when in PA for 2009? NCR was 19th of how many? WAY TO GO!

No, Joe, I think he said old rocketeers get really nasty TICKS in Virginia. Way to go, Mike!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
I came out of the woods and was standing around when others started knocking a couple ticks off me. Iknow of two rocketeers that found ticks already buried in their skin. Yipes!
...and yes, old rocketeers can definetly learn new tricks. 😉
