The vents were just ahead of the front edge of the motor, which put them just behind the nosecone shoulder. I agree there were probably some funny aerodynamic effects due to that. I have also found that the barometric sensor is somewhat sensitive to high accelerations. I think the dip in altitude around the end of the burnout was probably due to a combination of the two.
