Has anyone else flown an I600 this year? I didn't see any in the launch logs. Mine didn't qualify as successful, so the prize (at least the $20 I owe to it) may go unclaimed unless somebody puts up a successful boost at the November launch. Or maybe the December launch, if nobody has gone over 12kft by then.
no one else has flown. I've toyed with it... we'll see how the weather is in November?
Maybe some kid will lob an 8# rocket up to 2,000' and claim your 20-spot, Adrian!
JW
Maybe Ill put my Dart up. That I600 is 38mm right.
I simmed it over 10000.
I dought it could compete with Adrians short super charged CF birds.
But he has to get one of those little things back first. 😉
Needle in a haystack 3 miles up. 😉
Anybody got a radio becon that can track for me. I dont have a dc-20 set up for that small of tube yet.
Yep. Chris got his Cirrus Dart to around 12 kft. A tracker is definitely recommended. That could be a winning shot if my recovery skills haven't improved sufficiently, or if my new 38mm sustainer turns out to be a dog.
Tim, will you be at the November launch? I'm out of I600s.
Showing my ignorance here - did we change the rules to allow multiple shots in the SSS / SSSS? I wasn't at the meeting last year. Seems to run a bit contrary to the spirit of "Single" Shot Sweepstakes. I'm fine either way, just surprised to hear that multiple shots are allowed?
If multiple shots are allowed, do you have to fly a different rocket?
The rules at http://www.ncrocketry.org/modules.php?name=Contests are waaaay old... that link says a J350 is the motor of choice.

You have to fly a different rocket. The one I'd fly for this in November shares no components with the one I flew in May. If I can, I'll also re-fly my May shot on an I216.
I may have to dig out "Beyond Consolation" for a blast. Adrian, will you have your tower at the next launch?
Yes, I'll have it.
Dont you have to pay additional 20 bucks too. Ypu would if it were slots, for a chance to win again!

Absolutely. So I'm in for $40, assuming I fly again.
Mayhaps I'll wade into the fray myself... The rocket I'd have to fly is apogee deploy, so the weatherman would have to be nice to us.
If the weather IS good, the alphabet will heat up again, too - I know Mark S. is laying in the weeds with his L3 and he'll beat me by ~40NS if he flies successfully. There are others out there as well.
The alphabet sort of took over the contests this year. Great contest. Remind me to fly a bigger L next year - assuming I don't stumble prior...
SOOOOO.................
The ssss now has a 12000 foot cieling next month heh!!!??>?? 😉
I guess we just put em up and see what happens!
Adrians birds will bounce of that glass up there. 😉
MAYBE......... I say "maybe" because my hunch is the grass is as bad out there as it is at the N. site. I'll run out there next week -- that is where I watch the Leonid meteor shower 8) if it is cloudy, I'll run out there before the next launch to check things out.
The Atlas site is tricky, as there are a LOT of fences out there. They are not too fire-truck friendly. The worst fire we had before last Saturday was at the Atlas site. If conditions are still bad, we may want to sit tight.

Crap, I don't have anything that will fly that low on an I600!
Just kidding. My fiberglass booster with the conical nose will probably stay under. If I fly it. Time for some sims.
Roger that on the fire concern. Maybe we'll get some snow the day before the launch.
Hey everyone,
Thanks to Sean, for the graphite nose cone. I have a finished CF bird that is 29mm at 43.750" long with the weight of 8.43 oz, prolly alittle lite for alltitude. What is the optimal mass for a I600? is that a 6grainxl case? yes, tracking would be great, what is the smallest size you could get a DC-30 into, tube or nosecone?
SO, who wants to drag race some G57? hehe dont want to loose her the first time out.
