I have not been able to find a giant Red Max so Dibs...
You just had to ruin it, didnt ya?
Be honest - you'd rather found out now, before you spent months on it 😉
Here are four kits that I have never seen upscaled - and you'd get HUGE points for degree of difficulty on the latter three:
a.) X-Ray (clear payload section)
b.) Apogee II
c.) Farside - the only 3 stage kits Estes ever did?
d.) Astron Starlight - this would be a show-stopper http://www.dars.org/JimZ/estes/k-32.pdf
A X-Ray with a clear payload bay would be way very cool... I had totally forgot the Starlight? That was an iconic kit--

Actually already found it.
So I havent really decided yet.
I'd forgotten about the Astron Starlight. I built one in '67 or so. That would be cool! That really would look great at liftoff and in flight... hmmm...
I've seen pictures of an upscale Farside, so it's been done. I'll try to find a link. I still have my original Farside from the late 70's, unflown. Don't know if it would hold together, tho.
Yeah, yeah, I know... "Yeah, I'd do that if I were you." 😛

Anyone seen a large Baby Bertha? If someone knows where I could get a 4" cone for LOC tubing, I have a few feet of it that isn't dedicated to a project yet.
Ken
Found the Farside. The builder was Dennis Winningstad. The picture is on Giant Leap's site, under customer projects. Very cool.

Yes, about 20 years ago when I first started HPR there was an upscale of the Big Bertha on the cover of the Tripolitian. It was about 8 inches in diameter and 12 feet tall or so.

Estes also has the Commanche-3, I twas out when I was a kid and is still around. In June I flew mine successfully and had all 3 stages lite and be recovered.

No, I'm talking about her squat little baby sister. 😉 I've seen a couple upsized BIG Berthas.

I'm not sure that MM will fit in the back end of the pug... and even if it does, where are you going to put all the nose weight?
As I read the proposed rules, it doesn't matter whether a particular upscaled project has been done before so long as YOU haven't built the particular rocket before the contest begins.
W
Warren, when will you have the contest rules up? What a surprise I've got a couple of ideas for more upscales.
Scott, I don't have a problem upscaling something someone else has done already. I say go for it. There are so many different ways to do it, bigger, faster, adding electronics. That's what great about rocketry.
Ron
Now the million dollar question...... If more than one rocket came in a package, can you build and enter both as one entry? 😀
