I have a Raven altimeter and a Telemetrum, both with Li-Poly batteries.
My Raven has a free standing charger, the Telemetrum battery charges through the circuit board. Any body know if I can use the Raven charger to charge the battery to the Telmetrum in a free standing mode, without damaging or blowing/igniting anything?
You can get a stand a loan charger for your Telemetrum battery, the Mini does not charge so you need to have a charger.
I do not have a mini, I have the older version 1. I purchased this new last June.
but they use the same kind of battery and connector just a smaller battery. Their charge is a high and a low depending on the battery size. I think if it is the same connector you will just need to be careful as to the rate of charge. I have the mini and the regular and I have a small battery and a larger battery and just use the charge from Atus Metrum to do both. You could ask Adrian what rate his charger will charge at and then see if that is what works for that size of battery.
Thanks James. I appreciate the responses.
As I was reading the information on acquiring a L3 certification, it appears to me that whenever I am going to build an L3 bird, I will have to get TAP approval and get it checked off before I fly. Is this correct? If so, then the Proton M has to have all the same stuff that I am submitting for my L-3, just a whole lot more?
PS, I just sent you an email with attachments.
as an L3 flyer no Steve will not need to go through any approvals, just the RSO.
I will look over the email and get back to you.
Yeah, once you have your L3, you don't need anyone to check out your bird other than the RSO. That is not to say you should do that. I had built several L3 and larger birds prior to building my L3, so my TAPS (John Wilke, Art Hoag and James Russell) all gave me quite a bit of freedom about my build and the completeness of my documentation. Along the way, we all had many conversations as well as them inspecting the bird all through the construction process. They really helped and along the way I redesigned a few things due to their suggestions which either simplified construction or prep and in general made it a far better bird as well as simpler. My next L3 level project I will also have one or more TAPS give it a once over just to check that I'm not being an idiot and forgetting something or doing it the hard way.
