Goin to order one of these perfect flight alts sometime in the next week.
Just want opinions on who likes which one better. I cant remember which one Ed loaned me for my L2 flight. but it worked very nice. Im more concerned about reliability the most. I do like features of both but cant make up my mind.
I have both and don't remember what I loaned you - I think it was the HiAlt.
These are both great altimeters - I love them. Other than the obvious differences of altitude, of data logging, and longer mach delay on the HiAlt, another thing to keep in mind is that you can operate the MAWD with a series of button cell batteries (but not the HiAlt since it does not have as large a capacitor). This means you can fit the MAWD and battery in a smaller diameter bird.
If you're going for serious altitude with 54mm and larger, then the HiAlt is probably a better bet. Otherwise for a general use altimeter, the recording MAWD is bullet proof and my favorite.
Service is incredible from PerfectFlite, BTW.
P.S. I don't think I answered your question....
They are both nice units, I have two of each. If you are going over 20K AGL, go with the HA45. Alternatively, Adrian A has some terrific little itsy bitsy teeny tiny altimeters that will serve you very well. Lots of great choices!

Ed now that I think of it, it was the HA45 that you loaned me. I now remember setting the jumpers instead of switches. I really liked that altimeter- basic, to the point. Reminded me of my old ALTS25.
I think ill go with that one for now and if I ever get serious into extreme performance and data logging ill go with Adrians.
For the time being, Im really heading towards upscaling then performance and just need duel deployment.
If reliability is a concern, the backup charge feature of the Raven might interest you. The altimeter comes out the of box with two signals, about a second apart, for both Apogee and Main. That way if you have a bum charge, you don't auger in or shred a chute.
Ok so I went ahead and ordered the HA45 on wednesday and its here today. Wow that was fast. Great service 😀
