Yes, I'm bringing out a logging type baro unit w/RS-232 interface. I'll migrate up to an 18F series MCU to get 12-bit A/D. I'm planning on calling this unit the "RRC2+"
The basic dual-event unit I'm bringing out now I have dubbed the "RRC2 mini"
After the "+ and mini", I'll move forward with a 100K+ capable baro unit using a calibtated/comp'd pressure module.
I've also though about a combo "timer/baro" unit for staging projects.
In other news, I'm working closely with a NOAA colleague who is finishing up final tests on a new balloon-sonde package for the NWS/NOAA... this package has high precision PTU (press, temp, humidity), integral GPS and RF xmitter (400MHz or 1.6GHz). These sonde's fly repeatedly well over 100K MSL. I plan on "rocketizing" the package for HPR. I'll also be leveraging the ground station tracking software with tons of logging options AND a very cool predictive landing algorithm. The sonde will also easily support integration of other downlinkable sensors.
Let me clarify the business axiom, ONE PRODUCT can't please all customers and needs; however, an array of product addressing specific needs can. 🙂
The sonde will also easily support integration of other downlinkable sensors.
Electronics has kept me in rocketry since '65, specifically working on PTU transmitters. THIS sounds really good.
Everyone's been smoking something. Apparently, none of you, including Jim, seem to recall the very first conversation when Jim offered the very first unit as an NCR raffle prize. Buy your tickets now!!!
Is it really available yet?
I bought 3 of them at the last NCR launch where Jim showed up - the John Wilke Good By launch in late July. Definitely a major improvement on the old RRC2 series.

I bought one, and will buy another two early next year. SWEEEEEET!
All I know is they are close to being ready and my money is high in the air! I am sure Jim will make an announcement when they are ready. I can't wait!
