Where do you guys get good switches for electronics? I went by radio shack but they don't have anything without a protruding switch lever of some sort. I was thinking of some type of Key switch or something like the ones Bruce S is using on his L3 bird. Anyone know where I could get that type of thing?
Also, is 24g speaker wire good for running between the altimeter and terminal block?
Jim Amos, Missileworks, carries screw type rotary switches that are highly recommended. He shows up at launches from time to time and is local, so shipment is quick.

I agree about the switches Jim sells. They are highly reliable and have minimum protusion ouside the rocket. Here is the link http://www.missileworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MWC&Product_Code=MWC-SW-2&Category_Code=cat103020
He also sells them in 5 and 10 packs with some savings.

I use the same switches. I bought some rubber gromets (sp) at Radio Shack, cut one of the large ones in half and used it as an o-ring to to seal the hole between the switch and tube. Works great.
The 24G speaker wire will work. Make sure to tin the leads and use tie-wraps or something similar to hold the wire in place next to the altimeter terminal blocks.
And how did I go from contributer to Treasurer etc.? Pretty funny.
Radio shaft is a great source of disappoinment for any project beyond replacing your wireless batteries, get Jims stuff, if you need a rotary st/dp switch try Aeorcon. I like these to fire up a pair of alts at the same time.

Well Ken, given that you're the treasurer, I figured we needed to honor you for it. Not many folks step up to the plate and if someone does, folks need to be aware of it. Joe and I shouldn't be the only peoople taking shit for it....

I remember the days when electronics was a viable hobby and quite a few stores besides Radio Shaft were out there selling components and even with people that knew what they were talking about....

Well, I appreciate it. We can spread the shit three ways... It just surprised me. It surprised me when I went from lurker to the next level automagically. When I saw that, I thought thats pretty cool. Warren or Joe are up to something. Thanks for the recognition.
Remember Heath Kits? There used to be a store in Wheatridge where I grew up. They had the greatest selection of stuff any kid could want. Too bad they are no longer around. They had the best power supply and o-scope kits around...
In my early incarnation as a kid 7-14, I had a novice and then general ham license and my entire ham station was Heathkit pretty much...I even had a Heath computer... 8080 as I recalll and CPM to boot a bit later on.

By the way, except for special folks like Joe, you and me and a few others, everyone's label to the left is automagically related to the number of posts you've made in the forums. Lurker is under 10... it goes up from there.
Thanks guys.
I will agree with all the others here. The Switches that jim provides are great. Ive used them for many years now. Many of my rockets have had them never an issue. even used them on my L3.
Hey, speaking of spreading shit and help.. you all know im game anytime... never been scared to toss in my hand to do whats needed. So if I can help distribute that load I am here as well. Maybe someday I can have one of them there snazy titles...(JK..lol)
