A table saw works nicely. I use that and have great results.

Ya I thought about that, my brother has one. But that might take away the excuse for me to own that nice Riged I saw at Home Depot.
I barrowed a regular Chop Saw, to cross cut tubing. I like It. 🙂

The best one I've used is the DeWalt 12" compound sliding mitre saw. I've built numerous houses with one and it doesn't bat an eyelash. The only saw that I've used that is better is a German made radial arm saw with a 36" blade for timber framing. The downside is it has to be mounted along a wall and takes 220v, but you can cut 12x stock easily 🙂

Please oh please dont waste your time and money with the rigid. They have to be the biggest POS Ive ever used. Being a professional carpenter, Ive used almost all the chop saws. If you can get it, buy the Makita LS1211 but not the new crap. Dewalts are FAIR but have lots of head wobble but nice fence and table.
I personaly love the Hitachi's. I own 2 that just rock. The dewalt is probaly the 2nd best choice.

Wish you woulda spoke up sooner I mighta bugged ya to cut these slots.
I just cut them last night with a drill press and roto zip bit. I used a couple of big c-clamps to help steady the tube. Not as pretty as a saw cut woulda been, but pretty strait. Who really cares anyway, considering its all buried under epoxy fillets anyway. 🙂

I cut fin slots on a table saw. Paper and phenolic with a 96 tooth carbide hollow ground furniture blade and composites with a metal cutoff wheel. I have a little adjustable jig I use along with the rip fence.
