Hello everyone, I am new and looking to get into hybrids. I was wondering if someone can answer a few questions I have about them? I am looking at the Sky Ripper Systems 38mm motors, and they are going in a Public Missiles Orion Hybrid Ready rocket. I've read the assembly instructions and watched the videos on how to assemble the motor and that part seems pretty clear. The first area that I am confused about is the ignitor. The ignitor is taped to the fill tube and inserted into the motor during assembly, but Tripoli rules state that they cannot be inserted into the motor until at the pad. Is there a designated preping area to assemble the motors? Also I am unsure of how to connect the fill tube to the solenoid. I am looking to learn as much as I can. Thanks for your time and help.
Brad
With all of the floating injector hybrids such as the Skyripper, Contrail, RATT, etc., the restriction on placing the ignitor into the motor before taking it to the pad doesn't exist. Given that it has to be assembled with the ignitor, such a restriction would be pretty onerous.
Short the leads together before assembly so that static electricity can't accidentally fire the ignitor and you're good to go.
