On Sunday morning, my G25 launch got off to a great start, with a vertical boost, and the transmitter came on at apogee as expected. I had a good tracking signal for more than 5 minutes, which told me it came down on the chute. But when it landed, the signal disappeared. I spent several hours trying to get the signal back, focusing on what I thought was the heading (north), to no avail. I let Joe know it was out there, and today I got a most welcome call from him that someone had found it and turned it in. He told me who it was, but I'm sad to say I forgot. Thanks a bunch, and let me know who bailed me out on that. And where was it found? Joe said about 2 miles to the NE. Is there a more specific location? I'd like to know what I was doing wrong in my search. Did you pick up a signal or just spot it visually?
Pretty sure it was David Rikkers that found it, mostly intact but missing the fin can. As I recall, he found it about two miles out to the NNE but my mind was about over-cooked by then so I'm not sure I'm remembering this correctly.
Thanks, Dave, if you read the forum!
Too bad about the missing fin can. I guess I didn't friction fit it onto the motor tight enough. But I'm sure looking forward to checking out the data, even if it wasn't a clean enough recovery for the club record (if it went that high). Should be interesting to see if I can tell when the fin can fell off.
