(50's announcer voice)
When the wind blows from the Southwest and your rocket is about to fly high...Beware! Strange disappearances have been reported in this seemingly tranquil corner of the prairie. Five highly visible rockets have gone missing in this triangle over the past few years..... and none have been found... by rocketeers. Multiple airplane flyovers, countless walked miles, hours spent peering through binoculars have yielded...nothing. Nothing but the whisper of the wind, and the empty vistas of vast prairie. Where have these rockets gone?
October '07: BigEZ lost in the Pawnee triangle. Recovered via donation to local schools
June '08: Carbon Diem lost in the Pawnee triangle. Recovered from local rancher
October '08 Bdale's Yikstick lost. No ranchers contacted. Rocket not recovered.
May '09 Ed Wranowski's 10' long L3 hybrid lost. No ranchers contacted. Rocket not recovered.
May '09 My Violent Agreement altitude bird lost. No ranchers contacted (yet). Rocket not recovered.
I think I'm beginning to see a pattern here. We'll see what is more successful this weekend, flying over the site or posting flyers.
All joking aside, here's the related part of the landowner map that Mike Konshack helpfully put together last year. Let's all respect the private property and see what we can do to improve relations with the folks who live around here.
The best version of the map is the PDF that Mike posted here:
http://telerover.com/rockets/NCR/NCR_NPawneePropertyOwners.pdf
It has contact information in the back that's keyed to the letter codes on the map.
