Lost my Little Dog on L2 Cert flight. Flew a CTI J335 "Red Lightning". Rocket went on long arc toward the ENE. Rocket is White and Red, 2" dia and about 4' long. My email and phone number are stickered on the booster. Looked on Saturday and Sunday for about 3 hours each day, and Joe spent a couple of hours looking for it also. Ran a simulation to see approximatly how far it could have went, and assuming an off vertical angle of 20 to 25 degrees, it could have went between 8,000 and 10,000 feet off the launch pad. This put the possible area North of the Farm House that is about 2 miles East of the launch area.

A younger guy named Nathan lives there. You may want to go and introduce yourself to him and tell him what's up. He found one of my rockets once. He's a really nice guy.
Your 5 grain CTI likely did not break 10,000 feet. I've been tracking the Little Dog performance in general and it seems only the 6 GXL Loads break 10,000.
I lost all but my NC of my Little Dog on the exact same load at the North Site. I found the NC with tracker 940 yards from the launch pad, if this helps. I expect it fell straight, or moderately straight down after I suffered a failed apogee deploy but a successful main deploy. I also found the chute and piston... I expect the rest sailed down somewhere. The day I lost it the wind velocity was similar to last launch.
Hope you find it.
Steve, thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, the 8k to 10k from the pad is what the simulation is estimating how far away it is (assuming a 20 to 25 degree off angle from vertical) The estimated altitutude with that motor is saying about 7000 to 8000 feet. If I increase the off angle to a maximum of 45 degrees, it comes up with 12000 feet from the pad (though it did not go this much sideways) so that would be the maximum distance.
Do you know which farmhouse Nathan is in? Direction? I will go see him the next time I am out that way, probably this coming weekend.
is in the collection of barns and I believe in a Mobile Home. The whole thing is about 1.3 to 1.5 miles due East of the launch site. Believe me, I've walked all over there.
Good Luck.
I went out to the Atlas site today armed with a handheld GPS (Thanks Jeff) and was able to track down my lil' Dog. Thanks everyone for your advice in developing a search plan.
Also, I checked my Mace data from the Raven from the June club launch. The chute prematurely deployed at 4000 feet. It landed 1.1 miles toward the windmill (NE). I expect your Arreaux is out further than you thought.
Good luck Mike!
