I lost a big Endeavor couple years back--the cone is still out there on the prairie. She also come in ballistic at terminal velociity or mear enuf..the quantum tubing shredded into tiny shards, none more than a couple inches, most pebbles. Debris radius a good 15 ft, It was a trash bag recovery. The drive back to Denver was long and quiet.
It was the perigee in our own efforts--the central premise at this point was to save $$. There are two areas in retrospect that are off-limits in budget pruning--good electronics and good motor hardware. Everything else I continue to do on the cheapand so far successfully.
