I have really had good luck with an ematch and a finger of a latex or nitrile glove filled with the BP charge. I tape the finger onto the ematch wire with electrical tape and if can fit anywhere.

Sice its a soft cofiguration there is nothing to come apart and there will always be O2 inside the latex finger independent of the altitude.

One other note, you should always give a good tug on the wires to make sure they won't come out of the screw terminals of the altimeter.

Bret, Ed's method is very sound. Another thing that I have done is to use the corner of a sandwich bag.

I'd be extremely leery of christmas bulbs on high thrust rockets. My 2 cents... Personally I've gone over 100% to surgical rubber tubing for all my charges and I stick with e-matches.

OK, I am almost to the point on this HyperLOC 1600 project where I can venture in to the unknown and deal with Altimeters and ejection charges. I found some good articles on building ejection charges and wiring up the altimeters (even though I am really going to bug you guys at MHM to make sure I got it right). I just ordered the RRC2-mini altimeter but where can I get some e-matches to fine tune the ejection charges with prior to the MHM event? Any ideas?

So I have heard plastic baggie corner from Joe, Warren loves Surgical hose, and a tip of a rubber glove.... can these work in any type of rocket?

i mean I have a duel deploy 4"wide rocket(hyperloc 835) that im going to try and launch with its altimeter and it has a ebay... but instead of making BP cups and attach them to the ebay can I just use the "glove, hose, baggie method"? and let it sit at the bottom of the respected bulk heads and pop when the alt says?

this could potentially make my life a lot easier in the building what I need (probably sounds like the lazy way)

Yea, I'd do that if I were you. If your worried about them floppy around just tape the leads close to your eye bolt.

It is simple and easy.

The more important thing to do is checking the leads where they attach to the screw terminals on the altimeter. Give them a good tug to make sure they are firmly attached and will not fall out with excessive G loads or deployment shocks.

I use the surgical tubing method. I just wrap the wires around my eyenut and put the charge in the eye of the eyenut. That way it doesn't move around a whole lot or get pushed to one side. Always worked for me!

I dip my bulb in a little bit of 'Quick Burst' quick dip. Not
much, just enough to and stregth at the cross wire.

I have a terminal block, so i have leads that go from the altimeter to the block..... so I think those will be secure...

so you would wrap the ematch wires around the eyebolt to secure it? that seems like a good idea, or some tape too, this just saved me 3 days of work! yay!

with the surgical hose (just purchase some yesterday) im using 1/4 inch hose. what is your preffered method of sealing? tape, wire, thin kevlar shock cord?
so just put the match in one end and tape around the base.... fill with amount needed of BP, then tape the top? if doe that way does the bp usually blow out the side of the tube?

Regarding using surgical tubing - use zip ties and zip 'em very tight....

Regarding the plastic glove - you can just twist it and tape it off. The tubing has enough mass that you can pinch it with a zip tie, but the glove is probably another matter?
