Has anyone EVER had a Quik-Link break? Don't mean forgotten to tighten it, but literally break? I'm using 5/16" Quik-links that have a workload limit (WLL) of 1760 pounds for a 40-50 pound rocket. Tim got some really nice connectors that are rated at 750 pounds for me. If I don't use what Tim gave me, I just need to know Quik-Links have a good, reliable history. I've never had one break, but my heaviest rocket to date was just over 6 pounds.
I have some good ones from GLR (I think they're 5/16") that I use in my deuce and a couple other big rockets - never seen or had one break.
Only ever seen one break from flight but it was undersized. I have seen them destroyed during a Cato (in fact just this last weekend0 But they are VERY hard to kill. Bruce if you aren't comfortable with the size you have I have some I bet you can use that are PLENTY strong enough. But the ones I used for my L3 are the same spec as yours. It was 48lbs dry and 70lbs with motor.
Side note. I have a quick link as a key chain for all my keys. Its more then that to me as it was what held the chute on a rocket flight of mine that was my highest altitude flown even yet to today. That baby has seen just shy of 150ft from the 3 miles up mark. I hope to have a new one after this weekend.. wink wink..guess im just sentimental on that stuff.. lol
Okay, guys, I guess I have over-analyzed this... let's just light the candle... 🙂
Yep I've never seen any break, except when my rocket came in and core sampled.
