What hardware do you use now?

I have mostly AT hardware on hand right now, just starting out in EX. Somewhat worried about ruining casings during early static tests. I guess I am looking for a flight-worthy alternative that costs quite a bit less and maybe has slightly thicker walls to be more tolerant of overpressure.

I see some guys use un-anodized thicker wall stuff with snap rings... the trick i suppose is to have liners and casting tubes on hand that all work well with whatever.

The trick is finding liners and casting tubes. I'm not sure if you have an ooops in Ex..that a case with .005 more wall thickness is going to help.

Were's the easiest place for you to get liners and casting tubes from. Do you fly with any Ex vendors? If so, get cases that they have tube sets for. If not which on-line vendor has the best, biggest or always has stock?.

What size motor you thinking of starting with?

If 38mm..who has the best prices on it, and the FC, Noz and o-rings?

So Tony, you have not developed a favorite, you just do "whatever works" is what I am hearing.

As to wall thickness, I think its pretty substantial. Loki is apparently (in 54mm) 0.095, versus Aerotech might be as little as 0.058? I guess I better find my caliper gauge, but it sure looks like 58 mills.

I have used AMW, ProX and some customer made ones. As Tony said, the trick is paper. If you want off the shelf look at AMW and Loki. AT has Everything you need as well but you will have to get everything from them. There is a lot of used AT hardware running around though. I also think it is a little more costly as well. You need to look at your recourses and availability before you make the decision.

Yes, I do need AP, R45, although I was going to go with E744 curative. I'm working with Matt B. who I know has been in touch with you. Incidentally, I'm the guy that was bugging you to call Bdale on the radio last weekend.

I'm getting load cell and chamber pressure transducer figured out, then it will be time to line up the chemicals. I'd love to pick your brain sometime.

why e744? what formula are you going to start with?

I had it in my head that E744 required less handling attention, less fumes to worry about or something. But now I am not sure where I got that idea.

Generally PAPI provides greater pot life for casting, yes?

I was going to start with a pretty generic formula,

66% 200 micron AP
17% 10 micron aluminum
17% R45HT-LO

Papi has a longer pot life then some of the I143 and IsoDissi but the E744 I think is about the same maybe longer but for sure on that. I know a lot of people went from I143 to papi over the last 10 yrs. I have never used E744, just the others. If you are using basic formula then papi will work just fine.
