Ive heard Warren comment on an issue with phpbb and was curious what the fix for it is or why is it that its believed to do this. Something that is an issue with threads longer or as long as 4 sections per thread. So we have been advised to keep them under that. Really and truthfully I see TONS of other phpbb sites. Rocketry ones even at that like Newtons3rd or Mike Bennett's or Scott Fintell's sites all of them phpbb forums. Many of them and others have threads that are in the 20+ pages and more with no issues. So whats up with ours that we cant do this but theirs can. I really would love to see people if they like come and post builds and whatever they want. Or if a discussion gets to long you have to start a new topic. Really as im not sure myself of what it is. But what difference does it make if the thread continues or you start new a new topic. Doesnt it then make another page even though its not in the same topic? If there is something wrong I think it should be fixed so we can have longer threads for reasons I stated above.. Also is there an issue with bandwidth over use? So if a person post pictures of their build will that create issues?

This is either a version specific bug or a problem with our specific installation. It is very rare and has happened only twice with a couple other suspicious incidents. The symptom is posts scrambled being mixed between threads or missing threads that were surely there as one symptom and the other symptom being primarily a PM issue with PM's from months back suddenly being delivered as new. We are many, many versions back in the PhpBB development path, using a version specifically tailored to run within PhpNuke, our site manager software. We're on V7.6 of Nuke and are looking to upgrade to 8.1 or 8.2 in the next couple months. Along the way, we may change to a different forums package or at least a much more current version of PhpBB, so the problem should go away.

So is that a yes we will fix it or wait and see... Or .. Just want to know and understand. What other stuff have we looked at to fix this. Newer version of Php or VB? if a fix is in order what will that entail and how long.
Also my question with bandwidth. Are we bandwidth restricted to alot or anything we should worry about...
Thanks
Yes, it will be fixed - probably not until we do the site upgrade to PhpNuke 8.1. That is forthcoming - I don't have a specific date for you, but within the next 2 months, possibly much less. The reason I can't give you a specific answer is that it depends on when Jeremiah has the time to convert some code to the new standard.
Jeremiah already has a test site up and running and we're working on a few of the back-end issues that users don't see such as a unified database between the site, the forums, and the NCR specific data like Contests, Launch Logs, etc. as well as rolling out some new tools for club membership and volunteer management and some executive committee tools. These will include PayPal for online membership applications and renewals, event pre-registration and pre-payment and perhaps a small store to sell hats, t-shirts, launch pics, etc. I'm also working on some look/feel changes to the site to improve readability and layout, better organizations of content, more graphics, and some other new features like a Wiki and perhaps Blogs.
Conway, see my PM.

I agree with what Warren said. With the more recent version of PhpNuke that Warren mentioned, PhpBB has been more tightly integrated and the weirdness should go away. The membership changes have to come first - sorry for the delay.

No, fixing everything and making the site even more awesome isn't good enough! What are we paying you for? ...oh, wait...
Thanks, Jeremiah
