With all the talk about the Hobby Town fiasco, I was thinking it might make some sense to have a vendors section in the forum specifically for increasing awareness of who our onsite vendors are and what products they carry. Some of them don't show up at every launch and maybe be unknown to some club members.
I personally wouldn't know what to do if Tim Thomas wasn't with us. Everytime I forget something, he has what I need to keep me from being grounded, and after driving 2 hours each way, that is worth alot. Bryan Penfold at The Rocket Garden has also been outstanding to deal with. He has good prices, great selection of low and mid power, and he is expanding his HPR offerings as well (love the Binder kits!). And he's never failed to get me anything I needed even if he doesn't normally stock it. Jon Skuba's roadrunners and cluster gear are awesome, having Jim Amos and Missleworks as part of the club is priceless, and with Conway coming on with Loki and EX stuff, I never have to go outside the club for hardly anything. I do order from Wildman occasionally, because even though Tim isn't a club member, he is a terrific asset to the Rocketry community and I like to support people like that.
Anyway, those are the ones I've dealt with, there may be more, but the point is, I hope everyone makes themself aware of the considerable resources we have within our own club. We have most of the best products (in my humble opinion) and they are all EXCELLENT people to do business with, or just to fly and hang out with.
Great idea Ken!

Holy Boosters, Batman! This really IS a good idea. Warren?
Not to squash a great idea but if yu'd play with the website just a little, you see that under weblinks we do have a list of vendors that have been in our corner from the start. At least most of 'em, and if there are specific additions that should be added, we have the technology to do so. Don't buy from strangers unless you're willing to be strange yourself.
Good point, under Web Links. The only one I don't see is the Rocket Garden guy.
Okay then, Bryan Penfold and the Rocket Garden have been added. Thanks for the info.
That works OK, but it doesn't really tell you who the local guys are. Those are all great vendors I'm sure, but the idea was based on providing discussion regarding vendors who are members or active participants in our club. Knowing what will be available on site at a launch can be very handy. Not a big deal, just wanted to throw it out there.
and Art, I'm not Ken 😛
Well who is Batman then? I get you all confused sometimes, sorry.
Art
Ok, so who is Ken P. again?
Art
Ken Plattner, our treasurer.
new2hpr = Ken
Batman = Bret (or Bruce Wayne)
joecool = Ken, too.
Art, how could you possibly get confused? 🙄
No, who is Ken Plattner? Why was I thinking that Ken Plattner was Batman?
Art
No, who is Ken Plattner?
He's our treasurer, sons Nathan and Ryan, pulled the club trailer to the last launch... he's also "xman."
Xman, that is it, thanks! I know who Ken is, just not his username apparently. I got Batman and Xman confused.

Actually I must admit a vendor section on the forums would be a great idea better then just a link. It can be a place where people can ask ??? or vendors may be able to present things and announcements like new products. Or what launches they are going to be at or not be at. A place for Vendor feedback as well a a direct pipeline to those that have questions or needs and anything else a vendor can provide. How about instructions for products that vendors would be able to help with products or even customer vendor/manufacture reviews. I think it would be a beneficial tool.. Like at the moment i have a question. Even right now I would love to pose a question to the membership but a specific area really doesn't exist at the moment for me to do so and I feel it might be missed in an area I would put bit. Having a link is great and all but what if they dont have a web site specifically for them. Just some ideas I think are valid. I say we should have a section just for It. I know as myself as an up coming Vendor I would use it.. Anyone else? I bet Jim could announce his newest products from Missile Works as well as could Tim or Brian.
Conway
Conway voiced such persuasive arguments, I don't think it bears any further discussion. A Vendor Forum has been created. Have at it folks.
