We found the remains of this rocket ESE of the windmill just beyond the first fence on 4/05/2008. There was no nose or parachute, and no fins. it appears to contain a spent G55. The altimeter is an Adept ALTS1-50 with deployment. The transmitter is an XLF #07236 from L.L. Electronics. It looks to have landed pretty hard and been on the prairie for some time now. in case you can't tell from the photo, what paint there is is blue and it is a 24mm min diameter bird.
That could be one of mine or John Wilke's - the pic is pretty blurry. We've both lost 24mm MD birds over the last couple years. Was there an altimeter besides the transmitter? In any event, bring it up to MHM for us to get a look at it.

I'm pretty sure that Carl is the only other one in the club besides me that uses the L&L transmitter. I remember years ago (maybe 2003?) that he launched that rocket and looked for it for weeks. I'm pretty sure he was using an Adept altimeter too. Has anyone else claimed it yet?
'Tis not mine - most of "Poetic Justice" was returned to me by Joe Hinton and I don't use Adept altimeters. It does indeed look like Carl's - I remember the day he flew that.

Ken, I talked to Carl this morning, he confirmed that the rocket he lost had an Adept and the L&L transmitter aboard. If there is any dispute on this thing, I do know that L&L has excellent records of which frequencies they distribute to which customers. Please contact me offline to discuss further, I'll be happy to get you Carl's contact info or perhaps you can give me yours so that I may connect the two of you. My email is: apcp@comcast.net
Well, it looks like it definitely belongs to Carl Battles, and arrangements are in the works to get it back to him. According to the launch logs, it flew on 11/09/2002. After 5 long years on the prairie, it will finally be going home.
I could not see the pic but it is Carl's, we looked for hours when he first lost it and that is the area we were looking in. We walked in a zig zag back and forth from the road up to the top of the hills to the west and from way north of the windmill and back to the launch site. Carl and Sky walked that again several other times over the next few weeks. glad he is getting it back, maybe he will fly some again. Last time he flow he put a hole in my T-Shirt with a sparky motor, that was over 4 years ago I bet.
