I think the initial "burning" you see is simply soot, I don't believe it was anything to intense or would have caused the deformation we saw.

I'd be interested in this as a record option as well. I'm not going to be flying super large motors, so the more things I can do on small impulse the better.

I thought I had posted this yesterday, but guess not. Could you use the Defy Gravity tether to release the chute? Just have your electronics trigger it once its on the ground?
