Anyone who wants to use my wooden tower is welcome to it. It is a big, wooden beast that was constructed using something like 24,672 board feet of lumber 😯 It is a wonderful tower that has served me well…. Read more»

I inquired on that tower years ago. IIRC it was $1800 back then. Really. Zowie.

The “wooden beast” of a tower that I use has no special prep whatsoever…. other than a millenia of charring, it is just wood.JW

I want to reiterate what Warren has said– that the rules are essentially the same as last year (must find rocket same day, only commercial altimeters, must be at an NCR launch, etc.) The only changes that come to mind… Read more»

Just talked to my neighbor… He has a functional rain gauge (I accidentally busted mine. Doh!) Anyway, he tells me that we got 0.75″ of rain! It all fell since pretty late last night. Very nice, very steady. Just right. The… Read more»

It’s gorgeous outside! – a nice steady rain now here in Longmont for 48 hours+. I’m loving it… reminds me of the East. Nothing like a upslope storm to kill a drought…and a burn ban. If this monsoon keeps up,… Read more»

It was my very clear understanding that SSS and SSSS shots *must* be flown at an NCR event. That was the way it was set up last year. In changing over the website, I don’t see that now. If that… Read more»

To clarify — I think Rocksim is dead on (in genera)l. That said, I think the G80 file, at least the OLD G80, is way, way, way, way off. The new one seems to be potentially even worse, and in… Read more»

Cross section, i.e. diameter is very important — smaller is better (duh). That said, optimal mass is extremely important as well. I’ve been profoundly amazed at Rocksim and it’s ability to predict optimal mass — at least with White Lightning,… Read more»
