I generally build as you’ve described in #1 unless there is a very good reason not to. I would expect that if you are careful with the epoxy it shouldn’t add too much unnecessary weight.

Sounds good, it would be worth it to see an egg survive a W9 load. Should be fun to watch, good luck!
