Well, as far as Cd goes, my Cirrus (which was optimized for super/transsonic speeds) had a supersonic cd of 0.63 or so, and a transsonic cd of 0.70. Subsonic however was in the .4 range. For an optimized subsonic rocket,… Read more»

That sucks…Honestly, I would bet that the rocketry supply there will shrink fast anyways, forcing somewhat of a boycott by default. So much for a local hobby store with someone who actually knows about rocketry…

Chris LaPanse replied to the topic "Motor Tubes & Cases" – 5 years, 11 months ago
You shouldn’t have a hard time with that.Your thinking was correct on the longer motors though – use plenty of dog barf, and just don’t overdo it on the charge (which is good advice regardless with a piston). I’ve had… Read more»

Use a J825R Honestly though, as Ken said, the motor tube length is largely irrelevant to the length of the motor you can use. Go right ahead and pick whatever motor you want to use. It should work fine regardless.

I wasn’t able to view the launch in person, so when I saw those pics, my jaw dropped. Man, that is beautiful. Wish I could’ve seen Doug’s movies of that. Awesome!Doug’s movies of that launch were truly spectacular – definitely… Read more»

If you put the spacer above the delay, that was certainly the problem. In all Aerotech motors, the spacer goes between the propellant and the delay, and the top of the delay should be flush against the top of the… Read more»

I don’t have them on my computer – my dad has them at home. He will be giving me a disk this evening, and then I can upload some of the plain, untouched pics like the ones up from saturday…. Read more»

I have to say, for the money, it is hard to beat the achievements of MER. What they have achieved is nothing short of amazing, especially considering the original program goals.

I’ve got cases you can borrow – anything 29 or 38 from AT that you might need.

Chris LaPanse replied to the topic "Mach 1 At North Site" – 5 years, 11 months ago
Based on the data from my Cirrus Dart, mach is 730mph when 4000 feet above the north site, and 745mph when near ground level. This is of course only true in similar weather conditions, about 85F and dry (not to… Read more»

Chris LaPanse replied to the topic "Loki Coming to Colorado." – 5 years, 11 months ago
That would be quite impressive, as I have never heard of or seen a colored motor that could match W9 in Isp (230+ seconds in the atmosphere in relatively small motors)

Chris LaPanse replied to the topic "Loki Coming to Colorado." – 5 years, 11 months ago
W9 comparable in just speed, or in Isp too?

Chris LaPanse replied to the topic "Loki Coming to Colorado." – 5 years, 11 months ago
I have the Loki 38 set, and I love it. Honestly, they are some of the most impressive motors for their size I have ever seen. I won’t stop flying Aerotech, but they are certainly a wonderful addition (and the… Read more»
