Personally, I’ll use a stick on 75 and larger (especially the longer ones). For 54, even the 6xl, it isn’t really necessary. I’ll also use a stick for airstarts or staging, even the smaller ones (mainly to keep the igniter… Read more»

As of right now, I’m assuming it’s a go. I have my motor built (it needed grain gluing, and I wanted to make sure it was thoroughly cured…), and I’m in the process of reassembling my e-bay and recovery system… Read more»

I just got a bunch from Apogee – I’m looking forward to trying them (the G107 dual thrust looks amazing). To my knowledge, they’re the only CO dealer.

That would be interesting if you could find it. I certainly am not that well-versed on interference drag, and I’d love to know more about it.

Warren: I’d be curious to see a reference for that (the interference drag). Everything I know about interference drag (which is admittedly not much, but it at least includes the basic mechanism) and boundary layers (about which I know far… Read more»

I’ve really only got one flight planned, and it should go up Saturday morning. Once I’m back from that, I’d be happy to help out in whatever way is needed.

Pad. It took everyone by surprise though, since it did not occur immediately following a launch – it was a couple minutes after one. It must have been smoldering slightly for a while until the wind fanned it just right… Read more»

Yep. Not a large one, fortunately, due in part to luck and in part to the incredibly fast response from everyone when the cry of “FIRE” went out. It was probably 10 by 40 or 50 feet before we got… Read more»

I’ll do some button pushing. I don’t have a tow-capable vehicle though, so I can’t help with the trailer.

Your fins should be fine. They’re made pretty much exactly the same as mine are (autoclaved 1/8″ carbon core with 2 layers of CF over them, and then mine have a layer of glass just for the finish), and I’m… Read more»

A 75mm large M has a decent shot at >35k. I’d definitely sim it with RASaero and see what it says.

I intentionally made mine pretty simple, so it’s just motor deploy. I didn’t want to have a full electronic deploy or anything. If I were going to make it electronic deploy though, I’d put the E-bay as high as possible,… Read more»
