I know what you mean I have a pretty solid design, which I am extremely confident in for the ascent, but I am a little unsure about finding it after it vanishes off the pad.

I am using 2 of them on my latest rocket, and I definitely trust them. Missile works products are very nice, and I have been extremely impressed with them with every use so far. As has been stated, 300′ is… Read more»

Hmm…I agree – recording altimeters and the lot are definitely nice, but I still like the simplicity of a basic rocket with motor ejection sometimes. This device is nice, easy, and simple to program, yet vastly improves over the accuracy… Read more»

I fly at crash from time to time, and have only dropped one in the lake (recovered it too). I just get lucky there I guess…

Hahaha.Yeah – I think the control has its uses, and I might even get one sometime (though not now – I’m pretty happy with my RRC2). However, if I get one, it would go in a rocket with some redundancy… Read more»

All I know is that I can (almost) completely guarantee that you won’t loose your rocket John. The RRC2 will work, regardless of whether the control does or not 8)

Without referring to the issue Warren cited, the biggest bang for buck probably comes down to a choice of three altimeters, possibly four as I’m unfamiliar with the Black Sky gear. I’ve chosen these as they will all easily fit… Read more»

I use a Missile Works RRC2X. It’s a simple, reliable unit. It isn’t the smallest unit out there, and hardly the most complex, but at $90 ($72 if you buy it from Wildman at Mayhem), it is inexpensive compared to… Read more»

I believe the 75% rule was something for LDRS specifically, as I see no mention of it on the Tripoli site. Don’t quote me on this, but IIRC, it is unnecessary for this launch (it is only needed for flights… Read more»

Anyone else notice the jetstream forecast for Mayhem?http://beta.weather.com/maps/activity/aviation/saturdayusjetstream_large.html?clip=undefined®ion=undefined&collection=localwxforecast&presname=undefined(Granted, this only matters for those of us planning high altitude flights, but it looks like ~80 knot winds at 28k AGL for Saturday)

I recently got my hands on an N2801 skid, and I’ll probably be flying it at LDRS, but I don’t have a casing. Does anyone have one that I can borrow for LDRS next fall? Thanks,Chris LaPanse
