I don’t actually use a measuring scoop that is calibrated in grams. I have a small red cap that I filled and poured out 100 cap fulls and got it to be .85 grams. But, I don’t size my charges… Read more»

Yes, the plateau that you drive in on has a lot of small rolling hills where the elevation change is maybe only 5-7′. over 100-200′ And they go at an angle so you can’t see down them like you could… Read more»

The AP Bonfire is totally off because I haven’t flown the most. Each M900 is a hybrid, with < 50 grams AP in it :)Edward

I assemble my motor mount and fins outside the rocket, then slide into the airframe. I use the PL Premium on the MMT to fin connection. I don’t do internal fillets to the airframe. Never have. I don’t know why…. Read more»

I generally use 1/16″ G10 and a big parachute. My Bunny Thumper rocket was 5.5″, 15lbs loaded and I used a chute that gave me a descent rate of 7 fps. I even cart wheeled it a couple times and… Read more»

Another consideration is do you have the parachute space for the 75mm motors weight.Edward

Shrink it to 4″ and you’ll be sure to break mach :)Edward

It is going to take a lot to push a Big Nuke (5.5″ diameter) to mach plus. I’m thinking very high thrust 54mm motors or 75mm motors. I’d get the rocksim file and see what motors it takes to make… Read more»

What are you wanting to do? 1/8 G10 is *very* thick. I used it once and then haven’t since. I generally use 1/16″ or 3/32″ thick. Both I’ve had success in beveling. I’ve used 1/4″ plywood but didn’t like that… Read more»

You can see the altitude after you get it back and download the track from the collar. You cannot see it live. Though you can see how fast it is traveling (horizontally) live.Edward

I got my DC20 (in the orange case) in a 2.5″ coupler in my rocket. I didn’t like taking it apart since it was in such a good weather and waterproof housing.Edward

I read a paper a while back about parachutes and talked to a rigger friend of mine who dropped cargo out of planes. The paper said that in some situations you can get something to fall faster with a parachute…. Read more»

You need my drop like a rock drogue (36″ parachute with a 14″ spillhole) 🙂 The descent rate under drogue was 106 fps, only took a little over 3:45 to come down. Still decided to drift 2.9 miles out.Edward
