I meant something that boosts as a swing wing, then when the booster pod detaches, a swing-wing type deal deploys the wings so that it flies like an old Estes Falcon…The other option is to do something like the old… Read more»

I love it! Think carbon over aluminum frame swing-wing ala Estes Falcon boost glider with an aluminum T-section tailboom. Lets talk. I’ve got a whole crap load of carbon and Kevlar sitting here with nothing better to do.

Given that Adrian broke 14K with an H motor, I wouldn’t be surprised. Amazing what a professional can do when they put their mind to it. I’m still kinda stunned by the H flight – I heard the beeps myself…… Read more»

Like I said, I read it in an article that specifically mentioned Grover and Keota area and Pawnee National Grasslands in specific as having been seeded with a type of Russian-originated grass that grows close to the ground in a… Read more»

I don’t have the link handy, but I found it via Google a few years ago in a history of the Pawnee Grasslands.

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Type of grass at the North Site" – 6 years, 1 month ago
I don’t know the specific species, just that most of the eastern plains including Pawnee were denuded during the Dust Bowl and a funny kind of curly grass was imported from Russia during the early 30’s. It was a WPA… Read more»

Not at this time Dave. I’ve still got a couple K through N motors I plan on flying in my magazine, so until I burn up all that AP, I’m going to keep my birds fully flyable. Ask me again… Read more»

I’m with Edward – I won’t take them apart. I have 2 DC20 collars and all I’ve needed to do was put a 90 degree SMA feedthru to turn the antenna 90 degrees. it won’t fit 54mm though… Does great… Read more»

The dog collars are great. I’ll never fly a bird bigger than 38mm without one again.

12,000′ last I checked. Static tests have always been allowed as fire conditions permit. Given the concrete pad and recent moisture, I would expect no issues.

Perhaps stress fractures from repeated Mach+ flights made it ready to fall apart.

My sympathies Chris… hope you do better next time. Such is what happens in the amatuer rocketry world when you push the limits.

Doesn’t look like Chris had a good weekend… in fact, looks like he might need some heavy equipment to get all that prairie out of the airframe… hope you didn’t sustain too much damage and you got an altitude out… Read more»

No mineral or subsurface rights. State board denied his claim. Pretty obvious what’s happened since his water was pristine before the drilling began. While we need oil, its long past time that we moved on to something less environmentally destructive…… Read more»

There are leases and then there are grazing leases. In the first case, they pay for exclusive use of the land – that doesn’t mean you’re trespassing (though most seem to think so), it just means you’re likely pissing them… Read more»
