I like Sean’s idea – a modular kit. A standard booster/motor mount assembly with choices for DD and SD forward deployment modules, nosecones, etc. Each module priced separately I would assume.Warren

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Ejection Canisters – does anybody manufacture them anymore" – 6 years, 7 months ago
I go by the calculation on the rocketry online calculator and add 25%-33% and have success every time. I used to ground test, then I decided since I always build using composites that going up a bit in size on… Read more»

After the UprOar Project (see photo gallery) and a number of other rockets since then, I’m 100% committed to using the surgical tubing method. Cheap, disposable and VERY reliable if you use quality zip ties to seal the ends.Warren

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Nose cone" – 6 years, 7 months ago
I don’t do nosecones…the problem being the molds and gelcoat application gear. – but I know where to get them. I also most definitely will do tubing if you provide the mandrel. My speciality is fin cans. Talk to me.W

NEVER buy composite fabrics from someone like SIG. I always go to a speciality biz like sollercomposites.com or similar.W

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Best way to make centering rings?" – 6 years, 7 months ago
My favored method of making centering rings is to pick up the phone and call Kent Burnett of Giant Leap or (ack!) Curtis Turner of Performance Rocketry. Much easier on my tools and my lungs. I should say that I’ve… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "mach delay or not? Shear pins on drogue." – 6 years, 7 months ago
I too use a mach delay, although I tend to compute the length based on the simulated time above mach plus about 4 seconds. I don’t think I’ve had one longer than 18 seconds, but I’m not sure. I use… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "BP viability vs time" – 6 years, 7 months ago
I used charges at MHM last year that had been built inside surgical tubing over 2 years before – no problem. Thanks to low Colorado humidity I’m sure.Warren

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "To chop or Not to chop?" – 6 years, 7 months ago
I use a masonry cut-off wheel in my chop saw to cut tubing to length or I swap the cut-off wheel into my table saw to cut slots for fins. Wear a respirator and gloves or you’ll regret it.Warren
