I’ve got at least one and possibly 2 RRC2X altimeters I’d be willing to part with for an appropriate deal.Warren

I agree with you Adrian. I’m waiting for them to come up with certification standards for altimeters – when they do, I’m putting money down that yours returns more accurate altitudes.Warren

Word is TRA records committee will not be accepting any altitude records over 25K without GPS including the full raw stream data capture. Baro or Accel derieved altitudes will not be accepted.Warren

Now Doctor J, we should discuss. What I really want is an N1100. I bought (and still have) an M795 for my L3 cert, but ended up flying an AT load because I wanted to keep the altitude down. What… Read more»

#1 – typically folks use 4F Black Powder, the stuff they use for flintlock priming pans.#2 – Yes, but a limited number of stores stock 4F. It’s a lot easier to find 3F and 2F and Pyrodex.#3 – I use… Read more»

Join the club Mike. My sympathies. That prairie has eaten a number of my rockets. Occasionally it gives back the dead, but usually gone without a trace… RIP.WPS: There are still 3 of my altimeters out there on the prairie,… Read more»

Yes, I’ve personally felt that Total Impulse is a better contest than AP weight. Jeremiah and I will meet later this week to discuss.Warren

Jeremiah and I have been talking about this for over a year. It will involve changes in the launch logs and launch log cards we use as well as some substantive database changes on our site. On the other hand,… Read more»

As I understand it, thrustcurve.org supports remote queries. Might be interesting to look at the idea of dumping our database completely and using the thrustcurve database. All we need to mine from it are the motor code, manufacturer, total impluse,… Read more»

Unfortunately, the old code from the website I took over computes AP bonfire by total propellant weight and not by type of propellant. BP is also added in. We are working on a fix to this as manually tabulating the… Read more»

I’ll look into it, but I’ve never heard of PhpBB doing that (PhpBB is the forum module here within the site). As the forum software has to be adapted to PhpNuke, the site content manager, it’s not as simple as… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "fin safe speeds?" – 6 years, 7 months ago
There are a LOT of variables to that question – first two would be the size and shape of the fins. The larger the semi-span, the more prone to fracture due to flexing. Conversely, the shorter the semi-span, the more… Read more»
