I’ll be there of course. Gotta spend the morning getting the truck running – I haven’t started it since I got back from Oktoberfest. I’ll tow the trailer back to my place and then bring it up to the North… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Motor News From Cesaroni" – 6 years ago
The thing I like is Cesaroni is the ONLY manufacturer of APCP available to hobbyists and amateurs that uses fully professional manufacturing techniques and processes. Temperature controlled, vacuum de-gassed, extruded to a consistent density regardless of diameter or weather conditions…. Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Membership list" – 6 years ago
There is an NCR roster, but it basically lives in Joe’s little box of papers (Joe is in China) and a spreadsheet that Ken Plattner uses to track membership dues. By club vote a number of years ago, it is… Read more»

Absolutely allowed. A number of folks fly Jim Amos’ Missileworks WRC unit so feel free. Just make sure you coordinate with the LCO and the other folks who are flying R/C.W

I don’t want to dispute you Conway – I just don’t think the ARTS and it’s GPS package are worth the money for the kind of rockets I build and fly.As Mike noted, out to at least 7 1/2 miles,… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Dog Collers" – 6 years ago
Yes Conway, I agree there is far more to the ARTS than tracking. Range-wise it’s certainly superior and all the flight computer capability. What I had with Jeff was a discussion (I think he’d consider it an argument) that his… Read more»

I’m talking about bang-for-the-buck Conway. With an ARTS w/GPS, you’ve got over $1000 invested in the unit plus GPS module ($189+$850 – last prices I have for the ARTS and its GPS) and you still don’t have a receiver and… Read more»

Not only a mis-identified rocket part, but cheaper than a Big Red Bee plus receiver, FAR cheaper than an ARTS or an RDAS or any of the other made-for-the-purpose rocketry GPS units. Likely to have at least 7-10 miles range… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "#4 vs. #6 nylon screws" – 6 years ago
I typically thread the outside but not the inside. Meaning that I thread the airframe, but not the nosecone or the e-bay. This holds the screws in, but provides no clamping force. The screws stay in, but no additional friction… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "#4 vs. #6 nylon screws" – 6 years ago
That sounds just about right to me Edward. I think I was seeing 48# shear per screw if torqued to the point they very slightly stretch. 42# if loose.W

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "#4 vs. #6 nylon screws" – 6 years ago
I’m using 4 x 4-40 nylon screws for shear pins on my 5″ L3 bird. Don’t know if that means anything, but number 6 screws are at least twice as shear resistent than 4-40.W

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Does anyone recognize this?" – 6 years ago
That could be one of mine or John Wilke’s – the pic is pretty blurry. We’ve both lost 24mm MD birds over the last couple years. Was there an altimeter besides the transmitter? In any event, bring it up to… Read more»
