I LOVE it… and can’t wait to see it fly. Three actual flying stages with separate motors and staging systems?

As I recall we had 100% success with the exploding bolts on the Delta II project. We should use the same technology again.

Before you worry about commercial motor costs, why not have Joe Hinton talk to Dr. J at Cesaroni and see if we can get some comp’d motors or at least motors at cost? Cesaroni has been quite free in the… Read more»

Oh wait… 1/2 bates grain fast burn and 1/2 moon or end burners for the outboards….. I’ve got one of each I’d donate to the project.

By the way, I have both Loki and AMW 1750 cases…. I’m not sure if the Loki is 1750, but it is close and I have a K250 moonburner load I’d donate.

Strongly suggest moonburners or endburners for the outboards.

Doesn’t appear that I’ll be able to make it today. An old friend passed away last week and there is a memorial service at 1 so I’ll be tied up.

Whatever you do with the outboards, make sure they are long burn… J90’s or Loki K250’s or similar. The Delta was underpowered and the M almost didn’t come up to pressure before the H’s burned out.

Plainly pop-out and lock fins don’t do the job. Seems to me they overcomplicated a few things and didn’t think everything through. Nice project though.

Well finding out that the “strap-ons” aren’t really strap-ons in the way we Americans use them changes things a lot. One of the true “COOOL” things about the Delta II and Trojanowski’s Delta III was the booster deployment. As I… Read more»

Let me poke around – I know some folks in Longmont area who may well have space. Might also recommend you talk to Ed Dawson – he and Joe Hinton did the huge Saturn V at Ed’s barn.
