As a climber with near 30 years of experience with webbing, I will stand on the fact that a PROPERLY sewn loop exceeds the strength of the webbing every time and that knots reduce the strength of the webbing by… Read more»

Simple Green is probably the best cleaner for early cleaning. If you let the case go, a straight up white vinegar soak really helps.Warren

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "4 15/16" Aluminum Bulk Plates" – 6 years, 1 month ago
My only comment Bruce is that I’d go with bigger than 1/4″-20 all thread for the central threaded rod. I’d go up to 5/16″, maybe even 3/8″, all-thread. That’s what I’m doing with my Competitor 5. By the way, I’m… Read more»

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "98mm Aero Pack Retainer" – 6 years, 1 month ago
I think you need to have a motor case to properly fit the retainer. The aft closure on the Aerotech 98mm case has a different spacing than an AMW 98mm case than a Loki 98mm case than a Cesaroni 98mm… Read more»

My sims consistently show better altitude with shallower cone angles – meaning a 6:1 cone performs better than a 5:1 cone performs better than a 4:1 cone. At least on trans-mach flights.Warren

I’d love to burn one of your motors Ed, but I do have a question. What do you get in the way of residue on the aft end of the rocket?Warren

You’ve seen more hybrid flights than I have John – that’s for sure. All I know is that all of my Hypertek flights ignited cleanly and flew well. Bill Beggs had several very nice M flights and only one occasion… Read more»

I will totally dispute what John Wilke (IFlyRockets) says about RATT versus Hypertek motors. In my time with NCR (the last 3 years) there has never been a Hypertek failure – that includes all motors from J through M. However, that… Read more»

From my understanding, Aeropoxy makes 2 standard epoxies, one for bonding and one for composite layup… AND they make a high temp epoxy that does have a Tg of 500 degrees. It is only available in small premeasured containers and… Read more»

I’ve been told it’s bad JuJu to heat West Systems up over 125 degrees to accelerate the cure. It gives off bubbles of hydrogen that cause pocking in the finish. Other epoxies are intended to be heat cured. I believe… Read more»

The price of lead – along with copper, zinc, aluminum, steel and most other commodities has shot up over the last couple years due to China. Do like I do – boycott Chinese goods if at all possible.Warren

Warren B. Musselman replied to the topic "Wadding" – 6 years, 1 month ago
Personally I don’t use any wadding at all. I use a piece of nomex fabric attached to the shock cord to wrap the chute completely. On ejection, the chute is pulled out by the nose cone and it pulls the… Read more»
