Doug, are you digital yet or still using the old high-speed film cameras? I’m hoping to re-cert L3 at Octoberfest and it would be awesome to fly off your pad.

If you’re going to do Mach 2.3, I would coat the leading edges of the fins with Cotronics high temp epoxy after doing the layup with regular epoxy like Aeropoxy or West Systems. I personally use aluminum tipped nose cones,… Read more»

The video was pretty clear. I picked up some 2oz cloth and 30 minute epoxy. I have an old fin can I’m going to do some practice on. I’m still wondering what vacuum bagging does for you. Seems like you… Read more»

I’ve taught tip to tip to many folks in the club as well as vacuum bagging. I’m usually pretty available although I do work Saturdays. There are a couple articles here in the forums I’ve done on the process as… Read more»

I’d be up for #2 if I can afford motors this year.

I’m open minded as to diameter, motor size, etc. Just so long as everyone flies the same design and same motor.Personally, I’d go for a minimum diameter L2 project – say 54mm… and maybe a K185. That would put up… Read more»

Altitude with fixed design and fixed motor. Everybody has the same rocket and uses the same motor. Similar to the old Single Shot Sweepstakes only with tight design restrictions as to length, diameter, nose, boat-tail (if any), fin shape/size.This means… Read more»

An alternative would be to build a rockoon… a helium balloon launched launch pad for something serious – at least 6″ in diameter and O or P powered. The idea is to break the helium balloon altitude record and then… Read more»

As I recall, that was an especially nice tip to tip job we did on that bird. Let me know how the flight goes since I won’t be able to make it.

As I’ve said for 10 years now… we need to request 50K windows. 35 K has been OK… but everything I’ve doing is 35K+. you never know if you’re gonna get it unless you ask… and rag them about it.

I wasn’t thinking strippers… they’ve been boring since I was about 26…. Now Cubans, a decent homebrew, a nice bourbon and some good conversation over interesting topics… I’m there.

Sorry I missed it. I didn’t expect we would have a November launch after so many months of no launches or I would have prepped something. I’ve still got a bunch of K motors.

Good point James. I think it is just tradition that NCR holds the annual meeting in the beginning of January. Joe, what do you say to that?
