RE: 3/8" lifting eye? Now we're wandering pretty far afield from where this started which was John looking for a 3/8" eye nut and then apparently on the flavors and colors of Locktite. I was particularly found of the look ... |

RE: 3/8" lifting eye? When I use locktite, I typically use the green because I generally do want the part to come apart eventually. Otherwise I use CA or epoxy. I'm a bigger fan of U-bolts than eye-nuts personally. As I sa... |

RE: 3/8" lifting eye? This bird is all bolt-together except for tip to tip carbon and glass and some incidental epoxy to aluminum joints that have no structural ramifications. In that case though there are little machined ... |

RE: 3/8" lifting eye? I've got the very same problem. Looks like construction should be done in another 3 weeks - another week for testing - then 2-3 weeks for paint and finish... of course that's optional. I'll fly the th... |

RE: 3/8" lifting eye? Given that I now have the tools to do the same, machined aluminum bulkheads and rings seem like the only way to go. Doug, saw the parts for the bird you and Art are working on - impressive. Warren |

RE: Tubes Galore My wife is probably very glad but doesn't know it yet that I gave up using paper and phenolic for rockets or else our garage would look like that. One interesting thing, my wife came back from the fab... |

RE: hard to find black powder There's a gun store right on the east side of College in Fort Collins that sells 4F. One reason people will look at you funny when you ask for 4F is that it's basically only used for flintlock rifles ... |

RE: Flight Computers Redux Well the original plan was to fly it in my L3 project at Mayhem, but it's probably going to be on the backburner a few more months past that. I don't want it to get in the way of my L3 flight. It migh... |

RE: Flight Computers Redux What I've been sorta planning on doing is using a gumstix with 3 serial ports. One port goes to my GPS chip, another to the RF wireless chip and the third to either an as-yet undesigned data acquisiti... |

RE: 3/8" lifting eye? My eye nuts and threaded rod are drilled and pinned to prevent unthreading. One is fixed and uses either a roll pin or cotter pin, the other uses something much like a safety pin. I had some fears abo... |

RE: 3/8" lifting eye? I just bought four 1/2" stainless, non-forged eye-nuts with a 2000# WLL for $10.33 each. Based on the load rating, I'd say that beats the price of the nearest McMaster equivalent by quite a bit. W |
