Jeffrey Joe Hinton started the topic NO GO Sat. Dec 1 in the forum General Discussion 7 years, 6 months ago
Our planned Saturday Dec 1 Atlas launch has been scrubbed. High winds and the predicted cloud cover equals a common sense approach to winter rules on the Front Range – Mother Nature wins again.
Apologies for the late decision making but really, the weather forecast is not in our favor.
NO GO for Saturday December 1st.

4″ Madcow kit. Olive drab with “US ARMY” decal. Straight launch until about 4000′, then heeled over into the wind (from the SSE) and disappeared. Should have gone to ~ 5500′. Walked the areas North of the flight line both sides of the road past the fence line, and South of the flight line looking for anything that came in ballistic. Grass was…[Read more]

This bird was found last month in just about the exact location I thought it should be, which I had scoured in June. Amazing how easy it is to find a lost rocket when the grass has dried up and been grazed by cattle.
And yes, most of it was lost due to the impact. I did verify altitude at 19999 feet. The flight computer (Marsa 54) was able to…[Read more]

I wanted to know the availability of the 35,000′ window in November. I just doinked a part for my rocket this weekend and won’t be able to re-make it in time.

Yes I went digital a long time ago. I use about 20 to 30 cameras depending on circumstances. I’m not sure how many I’ll have at Oktoberfest but in that range I suspect. You can checkout some videos come of the teams at the Spaceport Americas Cup have made using my footage. I post them on my face book pag…[Read more]

Doug, are you digital yet or still using the old high-speed film cameras? I’m hoping to re-cert L3 at Octoberfest and it would be awesome to fly off your pad.

Looking forward to Oktoberfest. Don’t know if anyone has a special rocket they wanted filming but I plan on having my camera set up there. I have a couple of flights I would like to do but I should be able to film a L3 cert (Joe, hint hint) or any other special launch you would like to do.

Roland, thanks for the input. After more consideration I proceeded to order a unit. Fortunately the LCD display is very easy to see in full sunshine .
