I can’t make it to the annual meeting, but I do have something fairly cool for sale – I have about 7′ of 2.5″ filament wound tubing + some coupler + an absolutely gorgeous Von Karmen glass cone that is… Read more»

Brad Morse replied to the topic "Duel Thrust CTI Motor" – 5 years, 11 months ago
Tim, If you get some 6XL dual thrust motors I’d be glad to try one (there is an understatement) 8) I have a rocket that I have flown on the Ellis L330, a Loki K350, and an Aerotech K250. I’d… Read more»

It was indeed a great day for a launch, it was good to shag a few rockets. I wish I’d brought something to fly.Of special interest was the incredible number of rattlesnakes! Many, many sightings and some pretty awesome photos… Read more»

What if the rocket used for the G shot also had to be the same rocket used for the J shot and you got to combine altitudes for a grand total? Two shots at one prize.I think that is a… Read more»

Regarding medusas and off-axis mass… to me, there is one pretty compelling piece of evidence that suggests the multi-throat nozzle is to blame. Loki K350s have been flown *very* straight by several of us. That motor has an off-centered core…. Read more»

I realize there is a mixing chamber at the bottom of a motor that uses medusa nozzles, but if you line the slot up precisely with a nozzle port, it would seem to me that there would be a bit… Read more»

Brad Morse replied to the topic "Fin area" – 5 years, 11 months ago
Not to beat a dead horse here, but I think the c-slot combined with a medusa nozzle is a recipe for an erratic flight with a minimum diameter rocket. I can’t tell you how many rockets I’ve seen this on… Read more»

Brad Morse replied to the topic "Who is coming Saturday?" – 5 years, 11 months ago
I’ll be there. Maybe someone will let me LCO I was going to fly an SSSS but decided it was a bit of a hassle to ship stuff, as I’m flying out to Denver vs. driving.

Brad Morse replied to the topic "Need Machining (lathe) Help" – 5 years, 11 months ago
I understand the sentiment here, and for my TRA records I never used modified closures. In fact, in retrospect, there were no “closures” as they were single use motors. I have flown tailcones on some other rockets. That aside, I wonder…… Read more»

If you go with a little more space and it’s too sloppy, you can always tighten it up again by putting a thin coat of epoxy/microspheres on the outside of the airframe, and sanding it to get just the fit… Read more»

In v4.0 you have to put the new files into the “data” folder, then run the “engine database compiler” and then hit “reload engine data”.Not sure what version you have and if it is the same…

Brad Morse replied to the topic "road runners and rocksim" – 5 years, 11 months ago
Scott, I used Rocksim 4.0 (it came on the big floppy discs that really WERE “floppy”, so this may have changed)… but for that version you have to “reload” the engine data before it is available to a sim.For me,… Read more»
